The Laboratory of Biology focuses on three main research areas:

Regulatory molecular mechanisms of cellular functions

Studying the signal transductions and the molecular mechanisms that control important cellular functions such as Autophagy, Lipid metabolism and Stem Cell differentiation.

Molecular and genetic basis of human diseases

Mostly studying the cellular and molecular factors regulating the chronic and acute hepatic failure and the inflammatory bowel diseases and their association with the development of cancer. Population based analyses are being conducted for the genetic factors that correlate with the prevalence of human chronic inflammatory metabolic syndromes and cancer.

Application of Biology in Medicine

Scientific results are being evaluated for the development of novel products and services in the fields of:
